Books on the shelves, prints on the walls and a rug on the floor combine to make this the homeliest of spaces — and the quiet will probably cause you to forget you're right in the centre of London. Heading downstairs, shiny wooden floors lend a real English country feel to the dining area, which has a decorative brick fireplace and a circular wooden dining table and chairs at its centre — perfect for meals, morning coffee, evening games or working from home. Adjacent to the dining area, the kitchen is located under the street, so London life passes by above as you cook. Classic cabinets sit on a chequered floor alongside high-specification appliances. Also under the Covent Garden street is the snug, featuring a bright, gloriously comfortable corner sofa and flatscreen TV. The framed posters here — and on the top floor — feature the home owner's uncle. Heading upstairs from the living room, the three bedrooms are immaculately presented. The master has a king-size bed; the other two bedrooms are standard doubles. The house blocks out most of the sounds you'd expect in central London, so you're assured a great night's rest in any of them. The bathrooms continue the house's beautiful, traditional aesthetic, with modern showers alongside classic wash basins and WCs. Quality towels are provided. A washing machine and tumble dryer are stacked in the house, so all laundry needs can be handled at home — particularly useful for longer stays. There is space to work remotely in the snug, on the balcony and at the dining table, with strong Wi-Fi throughout.

Leicester Square and Covent Garden are on the doorstep, with boutiques, restaurants, bars, pubs, coffee shops, nightclubs and casinos. For theatre lovers, the vast majority of West End venues are within easy walking distance, making pre- and post-show evenings effortless. The National Portrait Gallery is just around the corner. The Royal Opera House and London Coliseum are also within easy reach.

Staying in the heart of London means you're spoilt for choice for transport. Most destinations are walkable or cyclable, and taxis or private hire cars are always an option. For public transport, numerous bus routes are available, and London Underground stations at Leicester Square and Covent Garden are both just a few minutes' walk away.
